In social studies, we are currently studying Mt. Everest. In this journey, students will be climbing Mount Everest alongside world-famous mountain climbers. With every step from Lukla to the Summit students will reflect upon what they already know and will use a variety of rich resources to learn something new. So, as students ADVANCE up the slope of Mt. Everest, they will also ADVANCE their knowledge and understanding. Each new level of the mountain students reach in their ascent is equal to a higher level of thinking and learning. They will begin by preparing for the climb and will move on to Base Camp, gaining basic knowledge about Everest. At each new level you will gain more content and will have a greater understanding of Everest until finally you are ready to climb that final stretch to the summit, the highest place in the world. It is going to be a great unit.
